My songs are about my own experiences & of the people around me.
“I draw my inspiration from what’s happening around me. I’ve learned to walk in other people’s shoes & tell their story” My songs are about my own experiences or of the people around me.
Solome’s musical journey started as a part of Gayaza High School’s choir when she was 13 years old, where she received classical training as a vocalist. As she progressed through her formal education and work life, she served as the music director of a school chapel choir, worship leader, part of school music and drama productions, a member of two music groups and a backing vocalist at various friends’ concerts.
Solome was introduced to Uganda’s music scene as a backing vocalist for Maurice Kirya. She was later the lead vocalist of Pragmo Jazz Band where she learnt jazz and soul singing. She has received (and continues to receive) vocal coaching lessons from Fred Wallace” Walusimbi formerly of First Love
Solome came of age as a Solo-Artist and released her debut 10-track inspirational album titled THE SONG LOVE on 01st May 2015 in a sold-out concert at The Golf Course Hotel, Kampala. She wrote all the tracks on her album.
Solome has since performed at celebrated events namely Qwela Junction (Guitar Maestros in 2015, Divas in 2015 and Christmas in 2016), Comedy Meets Music, Blankets & Wine 10th Edition and A Ka Dope.. She was named The Rising Star Awards Gospel Star 2015 and the HIT Awards Uganda Female Artiste 2016.
She is currently working on a project from which she has released a couple of singles like “Can We Stay” in 2016, ”Nsuubira” and “All In” 2017 and ”Ndeete” in 2018.
Solome’s foundation for this “..love to sing about LOVE..” has come from observing her parents who have been married for over 50 years (55 years) and are still good friends who cherish and love each other. They still love enjoy each other’s company and seek to have “dates” or stolen moments together.
She prefers to call her genre of music “THE LOVE” genre because she wants to communicate love in all its aspects, the romantic, the familial, the spiritual, the friendly. Furthermore, while communicating this LOVE, she wants to speak about the ups and downs or pains and joys that colour the picture of LOVE.
Solome has grown from the girl who was excited to be trained classically as a vocalist at 13 years of age in School, or the young woman who thought she would only do music in church or within the limits of inspirational music and is now the woman who is learning to be comfortable to use whatever platform she is given to express LOVE through music that cuts across religious backgrounds, social levels, personal lifestyles and that will eventually crosses borders.
